Part I

Last evening I signed a separation agreement between myself and the school district where I've worked for 21 years. It was the culmination of a relentless cancel culture mob's activism and my concurrent unwillingness to acquiesce to their demands that I forfeit my First Amendment right to free speech.

 

They made baseless accusations about my being an anti-Semitic, racist, misogynist, transphobe and that I was a threat to do physical harm to students or others in the school community because of my vocal support for the Second Amendment.

They lodged complaints not only with the district administration, but went so far as to call the police and file a report with the FBI.

 

I was never contacted directly by law enforcement, but friends I have in these agencies validate that contact was made and upon their investigation dismissed.

At the district level, I was placed on administrative leave while HR did their own investigation of the many claims made against me. This investigation concluded last week and was reviewed by outside legal counsel this week. The investigation concluded that there was ZERO evidence that I had violated any law, professional or ethical standard, or provision of my teaching contract with the district.

ZERO evidence.

Therefore - no basis could be found for severing my employment with the district.

However, the issue has become so politically volatile that my return to the classroom would have been unmanageably disruptive to teaching and learning (not by my doing, but by the noise caused by the mob -- which now includes members of my own faculty). So to avoid further conflict I was offered a settlement in return for my resignation.

I accepted their proposal and finished cleaning out my classroom early this morning.

 

I am not done teaching. I am just done teaching there.

 

Part II

 

I believe in God. I don't believe that God is random. I believe that God has purpose for our lives and that if we seek him he will reveal it to us.

 

I say that, because in all of this I have come to understand that I am in this situation for a reason. I don't know exactly what it is yet, but I believe this to be true.

 

Why?

 

Because God has protected my family.

 

We are in a position in our careers and in our lives where this turn in the road is just a turn in the road and not a head-on collision or a spin-out accident. If this had happened a year ago, or five years ago, it would have a significant impact on my family's trajectory, but it didn't. For a reason.

 

My fear is for the family of the next teacher who speaks out. The teacher who is younger in our profession with high aspirations and huge potential. The one who can ill afford to uproot their family, leave the district/community, and replant themselves somewhere else. If that teacher's freedom is curtailed, the cost to their family, to our profession, and to our future is incalculable.

have in your hands before you give it up. Don't trade a treasure for an
empty box.

Thinking Aloud - Wednesday Morning

G0od Morning Thinkers - Today is day 28 of the Biden Kakistocracy and it's Ash Wednesday. In acknowledgement of these two important moments, we'll take a look at 'devout Catholic' Biden's stance on a fundamental issue - life itself. What is Biden's position on abortion?

Since his inauguration nearly a month ago, Biden has signed an executive order lifting the global gag rule which restricted health organizations around the world from receiving US funding if they perform abortions or provide information about the life ending procedure. This is both in opposition to the teachings of the Catholic Church and prima facie xenophobic and racist. 

Biden's public option for socialist health insurance will include funding for abortion - a move that will have the most negative impact on communities of color. 

He is ordering the Justice Department to unwind state restrictions and TRAP laws that save thousands if infants' lives every year. 

Finally - his administration will restore federal funding to the nation's largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, who will use these funds to not only kill 300,000 children per year , but launder it back to the democratic party in the form of campaign contributions. 

Biden and the members of his administration support unfettered access to end the lives of infants at any point in the gestative process - up to and including the moments just before birth. This degree of moral degradation is abhorrent to everything that his 'faith' holds sacred. 

Deuteronomy 30:19 reads, "This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live." 

Today is a fine day to repent, Mr. Biden.

I suspect that at DNC headquarters they have an idiot spinner which they twirl to come up with ridiculous ideas. On one dial they have 'Actions' and on the other they have 'Effects' so every day Bernie or AOC gives each dial a spin and those are the talking points for the day.

On the Actions dial there might be:

Impeach Trump

Criticize Big Business

Raise Taxes

Create open borders

End all fossil fuels

Raise the minimum wage

Eliminate ICE

Pass late-term abortion laws

On the Effects dial there might be:

to protect endangered species

to create renewable energy

to eliminate childhood diseases

to create open borders

to create more jobs for LGBTQ teens

to end racism

to create a more equitable justice system

to reduce teen pregnancy

Now all you have to do is randomly match one action to one effect and you have your Twitter feed for the day/week.

Being a socialist legislator couldn't be easier.

The Lenten Season is deeply important to practicing Christians. While it has been trivialized in contemporary culture as something of a spiritual diet fad, "I'm giving up chocolate", the true nature of the next 40 days is to reflect on the redemptive sacrifice that Jesus made on behalf of all mankind. As sinners, none of us deserve this. None of us can do anything to 'earn' it. It was the manifestation of God's covenant with us in perfect form. All we can do is glorify God and give thanks.

This single statement demonstrates the absolute ignorance of Kaepernick and those like him. Please show me where there are laws that discriminate or oppress anyone and we can work together to change them. I don't think that you or your highly paid lawyers could find them. Why? Because our country was founded on the principles of individual liberty and freedom. Our country does not oppress anyone, we liberate them. Why else would people immigrate here by the hundreds of thousands? If people have problems with our institutions, there are mechanisms to change these institutions. Can you do that in Cuba? Can you do that in China? Can you do that in frikken Liberia?

 

Yes, every single one of you have the right to take a knee or sit on your asses during the National Anthem. But understand that WE have the right to remind you that your occupation is irrelevant. We can live quite well without you, you cannot live without us.

Morning Reflection - Sunday

This morning I was led to Lamentations Chapter 3. In this chapter, the prophet Jeremiah describes the hardships he and his people are experiencing and the distance he feels from God. 

Verse 7: He has walled me in so that I cannot get out
Verse 9: He has enclosed my ways with hewn stone
Verse 14: I have become a derision to all my people
Verse 15: He has filled me with bitterness

Familiar observations and emotions. 

But why?

Verse 22: It is because of the Lord's mercy and loving kindness that we are not consumed, because his tender compassions fail not. 
Verse 23: They are new every morning: Great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness
Verse 24: The Lord is my portion or share, says my living being; therefore will I hope in Him and wait expectantly for Him

Do not turn to the world for hope for the world is hopeless
Do not turn to the world for faith for the world is faithless
Do not turn to the world for victory for the world is lost

The Lord is the source of all strength and good. 
Seek your fulfillment from Him.
