Seattle area grocery store QFC will close two stores after the socialist City Council imposed a $4.00 per hour 'hazard pay' law. While these locations had been underperforming for some time, this extra salary burden made it much easier for the retailer to pull the plug.

Good Morning Thinkers - Will evidence of Hunter Biden's criminality change a single vote? My hunch is, no.

The left is making a big deal out of Judge Barrett's use of the phrase 'sexual preference'. Here's my two cents: If gender fluidity exist, then sexual preference must exist as well.

f my son were falsely accused of something as the claims against Hunter Biden, I'd be screaming his innocence from the rooftops, not cowering in the basement like a frightened squirrel. Screw the consequences to me and my career, I'd defend my son to the end.

The City of Seattle is now mandating a $16.47 per hour minimum wage for Lyft and Uber drivers in Seattle. RIP Lyft and Uber in Seattle. The rates will now go through the roof and the businesses become non-viable. Here's what's going to happen - drivers will network with clients and offer ride services privately. How do I know? Because it's already happening.

IKEA is buying back furniture to reduce 'excess consumption'. Here's a simple solution for companies that are worried about 'excess consumption' -- limit how much consumers can spend at your stores. That will also simplify your accounting by reducing profits, stemming free cash flow, and capping reinvestment.

Biden wants American farmers to put their farmland into Government “land banks”. The government would then tell farmers what “sustainable” crops they could grow. Because government planned collective farming has never been tried before - with disastrous results.
Because bureaucrats in government Ag departments know better than the farmers themselves what will grow and sell and what won't.

The media is reporting 207,000 deaths from Covid. What complete BS.

Good Morning Thinkers - I was hoping to watch the pre-market news on CNBC this morning, but when I flipped it on the talking heads were discussing, guess, what COVID, and without saying it directly, they blamed the President for all of the Covid deaths in the USA and suggested that we should be more compliant with 'sensible government requests' -- like the Chinese.
Hey dipshits... The Chinese don't have a choice. If they don't follow the rules they get disappeared.
F-ing morons.

Good Morning Thinkers - Today I'm going to begin with a quote from legendary Chicago Bears Coach Mike Ditka. In an interview with TMZ Sports about the kneeling controversy that is now spanning multiple professional sports he said, “If you can't respect our national anthem, get the hell out of the country. That’s the way I feel. Of course, I’m old fashioned. ... You don’t protest against the flag, and you don’t protest against this country who’s given you the opportunities to make a living playing a sport that you never thought would happen. So, I don’t want to hear all the crap."
Thanks Coach. You're a great American.

In the days before Rangers had vehicles, we were road marching beasts. One morning my platoon went out for a 12 miler with a new PL and first squad set one of those head down and haul ass paces. That lasted a few miles and the PL rotated my squad, 2nd squad, up to the front hoping for some relief. No effing way. We continued to push the pace. The same thing happened when 3rd squad took the lead. For the last stretch, Chris Hardy took the lead and hauled ass. We weren't running but we were moving out. When we made it back to the Company area and were stretching out, the LT asked Chris, "Sgt. Hardy, do you think that we were marching at an EIB standard pace?"
Chris replied, "No sir, because if we were we'd still be out there walking."
And that was that.

When the America haters condemn our treatment of people who attempt to cross our border illegally I think of this:
Imagine what our country COULD DO to dissuade people from crossing illegally but doesn't. That restraint is the measure of our goodness as a nation and our generosity as a people.

I was in a conversation in a private group and we were discussing the differences in the refugees/immigrants we knew who had come to this country- either through our own family connections or from direct observation. Consistently we found that those fleeing communism/socialism (actual communism/socialism) tended to be the most appreciative of the freedoms and opportunities provided by their new homes in the US. The following is one of the comments I made:
I lived in Orange County, CA during the time that the Vietnamese 'boat people' fled their country. Many of these refugees settled in the city where I lived. So many, in fact, that a generation later the demographics of the city have changed completely. In the mid to late 70s when I lived there, there was a smattering of Vietnamese families. Today the population is 47.8% Asian and 39% White; and the city is thriving. My Vietnamese neighbors came and started businesses, worked their asses off, demanded excellence from their kids, and prospered. The point is that there is a vast difference between refugees determined to make a better life for themselves in the US through their own productivity, and immigrants who want to make a better life for themselves in the US by living indefinitely off of taxpayer funded social welfare programs.

Editorial Comment: The word 'woman' is not an adjective, it is a noun. It is grammatically incorrect to say "The first woman President." The phrase should be "The first female President," as female is an adjective.
THIS drives me insane. Educated people should know better.
" A night that started with a reported shooting and a bag containing loaded rifle magazines and Molotov cocktails amid a peaceful protest..."
How is it a peaceful protest if there are reports of shooting and a bag loaded with ammo and incendiary devices is found? This BS narrative has got to be crushed. It is NOT peaceful. It has NOT been peaceful for a long time. They are NOT protests, they are riots.
And, as far as I'm concerned, the rioters are damn lucky to walk away uninjured and alive.

When I think about compensation, I often consider the 'completely incompetent' criterion... What's the worst possible outcome if the person doing this job is completely incompetent? In the case of teachers, a group of students will have to relearn a bunch of material that was taught poorly. If you teach specialized classes or electives, like I do, the impact is even more minimal. So, arguably, a K-3 teacher should make more money than I do because the impact that they have on their students' academic trajectory is far greater than mine.
On the other hand, if a firefighter or paramedic or construction worker does their job poorly, the worst possible outcome is loss of life; so rationally, they should make more money than I do.
In the Army, an artilleryman who fires high explosive 155mm rounds at targets miles away should make more than a finance clerk whose only real career risks is paper cuts or carelessly stapling themselves.
This makes sense to me.

Sabermetrics - The rabbit hole confluence of baseball and math.
A well known measure to emerge from this nerdfest is the players' WAR rating or 'Wins Above Replacement'. What this calculates is how much added value a player gives to their team - how many wins does the team. In other words, if player A is injured and is replaced by player B, how many wins would the team not have because player A is better than player B?
I'm curious if corporate HR departments have distilled employee value in similar, objective statistical ways.

I don't understand the perceived immorality in allowing businesses and individuals to keep more of the money that they earn through tax rate reduction. It's THEIR money, not OURS. What they do with it is THEIR business, not ours.
