Let me see if I can make the interconnectedness connection: 60 year old Taliban leaders seek new wives every so often. In order to find them, they are driven to remote villages in convoys of smoky high carbon footprint vehicles. The greenhouse gases created by these vehicles cause extended droughts in the regions where these villages exist. So the farmers have an economic incentive to sell their daughters to the Taliban leaders to make up for the money they have lost due to failed crops resulting from the climate change caused by the Taliban's vehicles.

Now it all makes sense.
